Firecracker Skirt - a PDF pattern!!!!

Wow! Eep! Yay! Hurray!
It's out!!!!
The skirt pattern that started fumbling around in my brain months ago is now ready for the rest of the world to see, sew, wear and enjoy!!!!!

The good news is that it can be made and worn by women and girls alike!
That's fun, right? Buy one pattern and you can make it for every.single.age.
I like that about this skirt too.

I would definitely suggest giving this skirt as a gift; especially if you can sneak your best friend's waist measurement and her favorite skirt length from her!

So here's my story behind the Firecracker skirt:
This fun full skirt is definitely fit and flare. Hugging you at the waist, but plenty of room
for leg movement. (Who doesn’t love movement?!) This little skirt is a breeze to make
and includes an optional lining slip version too. Simple shirring at the waist adds comfort
and ease. Wear your Firecracker skirt with sneakers for a casual look, or wear it Sunday
morning with espadrilles for a bang. Add pom pom trim or vintage lace around the hem
of your skirt for a special touch of uniqueness.
After all, it’s your skirt; don’t be afraid to let it sparkle!

Special thanks to my sister, Abiah, and our three best friends, Faith, Jane &
Becky. Just because the four of you brighten my world. I love you. Happy sewing, y'all!!!!  XO Abi
Huge thanks to my sisters, Abiah and Achaia. Abiah, for the perfect finished
photos. Achaia, for being the most gorgeous and sweetest model ever. xo

Modern Prairie Sewing ... where to buy!

Write up from The Good Cook about Modern Prairie Sewing:
"Embrace your inner farm girl with beautiful and relaxed looks to sew for your home and wardrobe. Long's Modern Prairie Sewing is a fantastic book to reach for when you want to treat someone you love to a pretty handmade gift. Even even those who've never sewn before can expect picture-perfect results, since the toughest part about making these 20 projects is deciding what to sew first. Choose from flowing skirts, a jaunty tote with a flower on the front, a cute and comfy dress, scarves, an obi belt, a blouse, an apron, a quilt, pretty pouches for sewing supplies or credit cards, and so much more."

Another Modern Prairie Girl! {Kyla}

"Ms. Abi - thank you so much for making the book, I really enjoy it, and I loved making this skirt. I'm sending you an air hug!
Hearts, Kyla"

I'm definitely sending many airhugs back, Kyla!  I met Kyla, her mom, and grandma at the trunk show that The Rabbit's Lair hosted for Modern Prairie Sewing. Spending time visiting with them (especially Kyla) was so exciting and I loved every minute of it.

Kyla's an adorable, energetic, happy little girl. Plus, she's a creative genius. It made me so thrilled to see her wheels turning as she fingered the sewn items from Modern Prairie Sewing while we talked  at The Rabbit's Lair. A couple days later, this popped up on our Instagram feed. What a joy!

Will you just look at this girl?!
Kyla made herself an adorable Sunny Day skirt from Modern Prairie Sewing.

I love it, Kyla! Way to go. Keep it up, girlie.

xoxo to you, Abi

Worn for Summer

These were taken when we went on vacation this summer. It was awesome! If you ever make it to Kokomo, Indiana go looking for Treasure Mart. It's a fun and packed flea market that we never can go without visiting when we go back home!  Have fun digging around!  You're welcome.

This became one of my favorite outfits of the summer! My Sunny Day skirt from Modern Prairie Sewing. Naturally. It was super comfortable. Just the right length for the hot days too. And the piece of lace I stitched on when we got there around the hem, was the icing on the cake. My thought is, why not carry this fun skirt through the fall too? Tights and boots and a jean jacket. Go for it!

What Says Beauty.

                                                                Just Beauty.

I told you I'd share more pictures!!!  I'm so happy you love pictures like I do.

We're back from our vacation and had a wonderful time!  I'll probably be caught pretty soon posting pictures that we took while we were up and away. Abiah did a mini photo shoot with Achaia and I in Nan and Paps' backyard. I'll ask her to post her favorites on here!

Oh yes! Again, I decided to go with Jennifer Paganelli fabrics and the skirt pattern I used is from my book Modern Prairie Sewing!  Please go grab a copy and share pictures of your creative fun!

And just one question. What says "Beauty" to you?
