the Modern Prairie Girl at the Peddlers/French Flea Market

Such a fun experience!!!!

I was so excited and honored when Suzie asked me if I'd be interested in being a part of her annual Peddler's Market. Of course I said yes right away and then wondered how in the world I was going to sew all that I needed to when I'd be gone for a week on a family vacation before the market got here! A week full of late nights and early mornings let me sew up all that I needed to and I was blessed with a successful market and a wonderful time!

I shared the booth with my sweet friend, Nancy. Sadly I didn't think to get a picture with her.
(She's crazy talented and super sweet! She made me wish I had a baby with all
her cute baby blankets and clothes!!! No joke.)

My awesome and adorable cousins, Faith & Hannah came out and helped me run the booth.
I couldn't have done it without them!!!!  Thanks girls!!!!

The Peddlers/French Flea Market is full of amazing, talented artists.
Come out next year and be apart of it!!!
Thanks again, Suzie & Nancy!

Home

Home.
My Daddy battled ALS for two years before Jesus took him home.
It wasn't until I learned that Daddy's last words here were "Home" that that word became
a whole new meaning for me.
Because I know he wasn't thinking this home. Here. He wasn't thinking the pain, the loss, the crying. He was thinking of Home. His Heavenly home, where the pain would be gone, the race won, the crown worn, his Jesus, my Jesus, waiting for him.
That's Home.

So that's when I came up with this idea.
A reminder to hang in my home here, that this isn't my home.
A reminder of the battle my Daddy fought. And won.

A Big Move

Hi everyone!
Sorry it's been awhile. Too long actually.
But life happened and I just couldn't keep up!!!

So I'm super happy to say that I've moved back to Indiana!
Yes, back. Because this is where I started life.
Hopefully, as I get more settled in the blog posts will continue.
In the mean while, I'm having too much fun with my family and reconnecting with old friends!

God is so good to me!

The Sweetest Review Ever

I found the kindest, sweetest review for the Maggie bag waiting for me when I was going through my email.
It's people like this that make doing what I do worth all the effort.
Thank you so much, Laura!

5 out of 5 stars for the Maggie Bag Tote
"This bag is so stinkin cute! Can't wait for spring to show it off. The button/flower design is delightful and adds adorable characters. Bag's ginormous and will carry a lot. Shipping and delivery were quick; Abi was super about quickly responding to questions and shipping out asap even during the holiday season. I highly recommend Modern Prairie Sewing (Abi) - she clearly knows what she is doing."

Oh - and don't forget! My New Year's sale is still going on and will be through the 16 January!  Enter code HAPPYNEW to receive 45% off your order.   happy shopping, abi

Welcoming 2016 {and saying Goodbye to 2015}

Wow. I say that at the end of every year and the beginning of each new one.
But it's so true and expresses exactly what I'm feeling. Wow.
2015 was a whirlwind. A totally crazy hectic whirlwind.

::I actually designed and came out with my first ever PDF patterns for my Etsy shop, The Modern Prairie Girl!!!  This was a HUGE step for me. One that required a lot of crazy hours and mulling pattern pieces over at even crazier hours. There was a lot of frustrating computer moments, but the Lord brought me through (like He always does!) and four patterns later, I'm still alive and so is our computer. I'm so thankful for my family and friends who were so supportive and excited and interested in what I was working on.

::I had great days. Best days. Surprise days. Down days. Crying days. Too much chocolate & coke days. Overwhelming days. Happy days. But the Lord was forever faithful and patient with a very impatient and sometimes very faithless me.

::I have the most amazing and uplifting family & friends possible. Period!

::I had a birthday.

::I had sale after sale in my Etsy shop. And was overwhelmed by the kind ladies who purchased each and every time.

::My sewing book, Modern Prairie Sewing, went out of print, but continues to be selling online and in stores. (Please pick up a copy when you can!)

::I kissed goodbye to my sister, Apphia. She's living happily in Texas.

::I helped my sister, Achaia, prepare to move down to Texas.

::Our brother, Joe, lived with us for short time. It was fun.

The traffic and confusion continues right into this New Year, but I'm okay with that!
What would LIFE be without that?!

Thankful and excited for 2016!

Merry Christmas!

Merriest of Christmas's to y'all!!!
I trust that your day is full to the brim with lovely, happy people and delicious food.
But most of all, I hope that your day is filled with the peace of the Lord Jesus and the beauty and mystery of His glorious birth.

"Then took he [Simeon] Him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. And Joseph and his mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him."
-Luke 2:28-33

happy Christmas, xo Abi

And now... a fun, feel-good, cozy and happy Christmas song.... just for you!

Right Choices.

We had the best time! Friends, siblings, corn maze, hay rides, Kettle corn, tire swings, cave exploring, old barns, a super fun slide, basketball, Tether ball, and hours of great talk!
Really. The best choice!
Go when you're in the area and when it's open!!!!
(It's just too sad that it can't be open all year round!)

We had so much fun talking and laughing and soaking in the
sunshine while we spent the day together.
happy sewing!  xo, Abi

Special thanks to my friend, Sam, for mentioning in passing the word ‘sundress’ while we were talking about possible patterns and when I was racking my brain to find a name for this design. In turn, I liked the sound of the word so much that I just had to use it! After I made this tunic in knit, it only seemed right to stick the word ‘everyday’ in there too. So the Everyday Sundress has him to thank for its proper name! And so do I.

Huge thanks to my friend Sophie of Smile For Sophie Photography for the
gorgeous finished project photos and the wonderful video!
