PJ's for Little Ones

I love making cute PJ's for little kids.
When I hit on this kimono style pj set from Amy Butler's Little Stitches for Little Ones the other day, I knew that I needed to make them for a little, adorable girl I know.

I pulled out fabrics that would compliment sweet Margaret's dark hair and round cheeks.

Following the sewing instructions for the pjs was all together successful. I had to use my imagination at times, but I like to sew that way anyway, so it wasn't a challenge.
So if you're looking for pjs to make for the 1 year olds and younger in your life, I'd highly suggest this fun and cute pattern.

They seemed to be a liked by Margaret too. Yay!

HOW Do You Sew & WHY?

I've always had my sewing machine set up at a table and since the time I learned how, have been sitting while I sew. However, when it was time for me to sew my Reflections quilt together, I knew that wrestling with it on my table (with my sister's sewing machine + supplies right next to mine), that setting my machine up on our big studio counter would be so much easier.
Since then.... well, I haven't gone back!
I love standing while I sew. I'm already up so moving around the counter as I'm working on my project is no big deal. The iron is just a couple steps away.
It just works.
We do have nice plushy mats around half of our big counter top, so even when I do get a little tired of standing, the mats help my feet.

So how about for you?! Do you sew standing up or sitting down?
Which do you prefer and why?
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Firecracker Skirt - a PDF pattern!!!!

Wow! Eep! Yay! Hurray!
It's out!!!!
The skirt pattern that started fumbling around in my brain months ago is now ready for the rest of the world to see, sew, wear and enjoy!!!!!

The good news is that it can be made and worn by women and girls alike!
That's fun, right? Buy one pattern and you can make it for every.single.age.
I like that about this skirt too.

I would definitely suggest giving this skirt as a gift; especially if you can sneak your best friend's waist measurement and her favorite skirt length from her!

So here's my story behind the Firecracker skirt:
This fun full skirt is definitely fit and flare. Hugging you at the waist, but plenty of room
for leg movement. (Who doesn’t love movement?!) This little skirt is a breeze to make
and includes an optional lining slip version too. Simple shirring at the waist adds comfort
and ease. Wear your Firecracker skirt with sneakers for a casual look, or wear it Sunday
morning with espadrilles for a bang. Add pom pom trim or vintage lace around the hem
of your skirt for a special touch of uniqueness.
After all, it’s your skirt; don’t be afraid to let it sparkle!

Special thanks to my sister, Abiah, and our three best friends, Faith, Jane &
Becky. Just because the four of you brighten my world. I love you. Happy sewing, y'all!!!!  XO Abi
Huge thanks to my sisters, Abiah and Achaia. Abiah, for the perfect finished
photos. Achaia, for being the most gorgeous and sweetest model ever. xo

Right Choices.

We had the best time! Friends, siblings, corn maze, hay rides, Kettle corn, tire swings, cave exploring, old barns, a super fun slide, basketball, Tether ball, and hours of great talk!
Really. The best choice!
Go when you're in the area and when it's open!!!!
(It's just too sad that it can't be open all year round!)
