I am so very very excited!!!!!

My sisters and I were really bummed that it didn't work out for us to go this year. Things turned upside down and left us realizing that we wouldn't be able to make it - about 2 weeks away from when market started. It was super sad, but will make the next time that much better!!!!!!!!!

To your left, good people, is my Cakewalk skirt and my Mia bag!!!  Both of them are super quick and fun sews!  They make fabulous gifts and the bag is an awesome scrap buster. So there you have it!

For today, some fun sewing inspirational pictures to get you thinking fresh about sewing all over again!

22.

I had a birthday. It fell way back on the 20th of October. That's right. I'm 4 days late on letting you in on the secret. Oops! To make things just a little bit more unconventional, I decided to set up a fun photo booth style wall for us to take some slightly-serious, funny, sweet pictures! It was fabulously fun! Purchase a few party supplies at Hobby Lobby, Micheal's, or even Walmart for your next birthday party. Use string, knots, or even tape (that's not too sticky!) and decorate your wall, corner, and even a few trees out in the backyard. Even if you have to pull a few pieces of furniture out of the way, it's worth the hilarious things you can capture with your camera!

I had an awesome day!!! I'm blessed beyond measure with the most amazing, adorable, & loving family and friends ever.

I think I'm going to like 22.

The Long Road Bag {tutorial}

long road bag tutorial

by Abigail Long, author of Modern Prairie Sewing and blogger
at The Modern Prairie Girl.

"This bag was made for those LONG road trips.
It holds everything, while still being slouchy enough to get crammed into the car with everything that’s brought along for a vacation! The Long Road bag is super quick and fun to make – so let’s get started!
Walk through it carefully, so you don’t miss anything that might be needed. Lay out your fabric pieces as you go, so it comes together without any mishaps!
I give you some ideas about what fabric choices that would be extra fun to use when you decide to whip up this bag. The handle is really unique. Having the knot or bow option leaves way for it being sized for a petite, regular or tall lady. You can adjust the length of your bag for a cross body style or if you just want it to hang from your shoulder."

My guest post tutorial is up and running at Money Saving Mom!!!  If you're looking for a great, fun, and quick tutorial, hop over and print out the instructions for yourself!  Lots of helpful, step-by-step instructional photos too. While you're at Money Saving Mom, look around. Crystal is an amazing and beautiful person!

maggie.

Way back in September, I showed you a Maggie bag that was in the works. Here it is - officially in the works! I absolutely love this bag. The flower on the front makes me smile and think of vacations: beaches, sunburns + freckles, lotion, shopping, lots of pictures and lots of laughter. And lots of fun! This bag would be a fabulous gift and is really easy to make. (Even if the flower does scare you a little - it's not so scary in person! I promise.) So if you're planning a vacation to Florida before winter hits, now's the perfect time to make the Maggie bag, so it's ready when you are to hit the beach! Have fun!

xoxo Abi

Special Thanks:  to my sister Abiah for the photos & styling.

She Just Made My Day

LOOK AT THE CUTENESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Rosie at QuiltHome (where they happen to sell Modern Prairie Sewing ...) wrote me and shared a little bit of her sewing story with me. She's been sewing for over 30 years! How awesome is that? She purchased my book and has made several things from it, including this adorable KittyJo bag that she whipped up for her sister. Love it!

Thanks, Rosie! You completely made my day!!!
