The Sweetest Review Ever

I found the kindest, sweetest review for the Maggie bag waiting for me when I was going through my email.
It's people like this that make doing what I do worth all the effort.
Thank you so much, Laura!

5 out of 5 stars for the Maggie Bag Tote
"This bag is so stinkin cute! Can't wait for spring to show it off. The button/flower design is delightful and adds adorable characters. Bag's ginormous and will carry a lot. Shipping and delivery were quick; Abi was super about quickly responding to questions and shipping out asap even during the holiday season. I highly recommend Modern Prairie Sewing (Abi) - she clearly knows what she is doing."

Oh - and don't forget! My New Year's sale is still going on and will be through the 16 January!  Enter code HAPPYNEW to receive 45% off your order.   happy shopping, abi

Modern Prairie Sewing Success Story from The Sewing Basket!

I opened up my email the other night to find one of the sweetest, most encouraging reviews of
Modern Prairie Sewing possible!

The review came from Lou Ann of The Sewing Basket
"Hi Abi, I just wanted to write to say that I have been selling your book at homeschool shows and quilt shows since it came out. I buy it at United Notions.... Anyway, I teach sewing when I'm not doing shows and I have just finished a year of working through your book with 6 teen girls. They (and I) loved it! 3 of them made the Riverwalk skirt! No easy task, but a very great pattern. I have used other books, but wanted to let you know that your book is excellently written and illustrated! I am ready for your second book! In the works? Thanks again for a great book!
Lou Ann Rudeseal, The Sewing Basket, Arlington, TX"

She sent me the above picture of her cute sewing girls in their Riverwalk skirts with the note:
"I'm serious when I say we truly loved your book!!"

I loved looking through Lou Ann's photos on her Facebook and spotting numerous projects that her sewing students made using Modern Prairie Sewing. They did a fabulous job. And three cheers for those girls who made two of the most time consuming and thought provoking patterns in my book! You made the Jael bag [pictures above] and the Riverwalk skirts beautifully and perfectly!

Thanks so much for sharing with me, Lou Ann!
Hugs to you and your sewing girls down in Arlington, Texas!
-Abi

Review of Modern Prairie Sewing by Generation Q Magazine, Winter 2014

"Oh, just look at the cover! We can feel the wildflower-scented breeze as we are frolicking with these happy-go-lucky ladies, strolling the gorgeous prairie. For us Little House on the Prairie fans, this book evokes a feeling of contentment and playfulness. (And the great news is we can get our hot little hands on this historic charm without foregoing our mod cons, such as central heating!)Abigail Long's book features a fine chapter on sewing basics and some of her secrets. Subsequent chapters are filled with bag, clothing, and home projects. The photos are lovely, but for those of us who are - ahem - challenged by written-only instructions, there are detailed full-color diagrams, too. There are seven (!) bag patterns we can't wait to try with sweet girly names like Belle and KittyJo. The Maggie bag is nice and roomy, and features a fun, floppy flower. Clothing projects range from skirts to shirts to belts, and are perfect for a new garment sewist (not to mention they're breezy and very country-chic.) The Leeway Apron is sweet and simple, too. Definitely a book we want to stash in our log cabin!" (Generation Q Magazine, November/December 2014)

Oh my!  I'm was completely surprised when this review popped up.  But I have the magazine to prove it, so I'm not pinching myself too hard!

Y'all have a phenomenal Friday! Mine has been awesome and very productive.

Review of Modern Prairie Sewing by American Sewing Guild Notions Magazine, Fall 2014

Written by a 20-something hands-on seamstress and crafter, the projects in this book are modern but with a nostalgic vibe. The projects are designed to develop technical skills; some have bonus details to further raise sewing skills. (American Sewing Guild Notions Magazine, Fall 2014)

Wow!  I was so excited to see this review by the American Sewing Guild Notions Magazine pop up on Amazon along with the other editorial reviews.

I'm soooooo blessed!!!!
love, Abi
